Generally very good. Friendly staff. Courteous pickup and drop off. However, on this last trip, I had to make 4 phone calls before anyone picked up the phone. I used the same number given to me. On my last try, I used a long distance number ( preface with a 1), The office answered right away. After that , pickup at the airport was quick— drop off was timely.

We waited in a freezing parking garage for the one attendant 30 minutes before he showed up. Long line of people behind us too. I ordered an SUV but was given a 2 wheel drive hatchback and they didn't have any 4WDs at any price. Drove to the ski resort despite my better judgement and somehow lived to tell the tale.

Took almost 1 hour to pick up our car at the counter. Toddler seat didn't come with instructions on how to put in the car. Drop off procedure was a tad problematic: a) too far from main terminal leave a lot of time to catch the shuttle bus to main terminal and b) Drop off box location not clearly stated inside the terminal- had to ask for help.

Once we found Avis within the Vancouver airport everything went smooth. The car was clean, ran well, and did what we needed it to do, get us from A to B. Drop off was easy as we were at the airport at 5am and there was no traffic or people.

Had to wait 45 minutes after checking in for pickup. Reservation was found right away but staff was slow to have cars ready for rentals. Multiple people waiting the entire time for pickup. No cars available immediately.

Paid for the car with extra cleaning it was covered in sand. Windshield cad a chip and passenger side door had a white scrape. Trying to to track anyone down from inside to report was impossible, and trying to get an actual human being on the phone was non existent. 4 to 5 numbers and endless messages. I tried to fill out their form on line, “we’re sorry your request can not be processed at this time”. I took photos instead. What I didn’t take photos of was the fuel gage. I returned to the same level and got nailed with a 17 litre fuel charge. “You took photos of the damage you should have taken photos of the fuel level.” Hertz, Dollar, Thrifty are all the same company, going to try elsewhere out of spite next time.
